How do you make a vocal work in cubase properly because if i have my bpm set at 180.0000 then the vocal will sound very speedy... i tried Timestretch and Pitchshift .. that works but isnt there an easier way to do this ?

The important thing is that it works!
It s complicated but nobody said music production is easy!
I dont work with vocals all that much but I know it usually aint that easy machin them with your tune...
Now,if you got your own singer that would be a different story...
Like the pro s do..so I guess they dont have all that much problem with it
Cuzz they got someone to just sing along to the tune and then just some minor adjustments are needed...
but I know what its like when you got a capella around 140 bpm and try to match it with your hardcore tune

Some vocals time-stretch, others don't. It also depends what your time-stretching from.

Try slowing down your main project bpm to 170 and try that out. 180 is pretty fast. Always remember to give the DJ room to be flexible (+/-12%). At 170 the DJ can pitch up to 190bpm if he wants, as well as go down to 150.

170 will also be easier on your time-stretching algorithm.

One other thing that affects time-stretching vocals is vibrato on the vocal. This makes time-stretching more obvious. Try cutting the long sustained notes off and not timestretching them, then timestretching the previous bit and "gluing" it back on to the end, with a x-fade if necessary.

If you still can't get it to sound right then the vocal just isn't going to sit right - pick a different vocal.

If it worked...... why are you looking for an easier way?

Anyway, sometimes Steinberg ReCycle can work on vocals, to speed them up without pitching / timestretching. Most times it's going to sound awful, as it won't bend notes.

The magic bit of kit you're after than is easier (and sounds better) than anything you've mentioned is CELEMONY MELODYNE. Melodyne is an audio sequencer in it's own right, but it has the power to resynthesize a vocal sample so that you can basically do whatever you like with it. Now, I warn you now - it sounds sh*t-hot, but it will take some time to get your head round it. After that, you can change almost everything about the vocal sample (pitch, speed, timbre, melody, rhythm, and more). MOST of this it even does automatically for you.

Check it out!

^^^^ I forgot about that! I tried it once, but as Owen says, its not easy to get your head around. Once you have though you can do pretty much anything to your vox! It makes it like liquid vocals!
