Soundblasters are ok - I used to use the SB Live for all my production stuff and it did me proud. They are more marketed at gamers though, and alot of the features are more geared towards gamers.
The M-Audio range are alot better quality though. I used to have an audiophile 2496, and now have the 1010LT and its amazing. Quality is spot on, extremely low noise, and its got RCA inputs so its easier to go from mixer direct to soundcard (I've always found those piddly 1/8" jacks introduce a bit of noise - I think its a contact issue).
The one of the range to look at would be the 2496 - its a simple stereo i/o which is all you'll need if your just recording mixes

I use the 1010 rack version at college, and it's wicked, but the 24/96 enough and alot cheaper :)

I think you'd be better off getting a seperate audio interface, and then a midi controller (a nice 49 keyer is good).
But thats just me.
