Okay, so I LOVE freeform happyhardcore. The stuff with the PHAT bass lines and melodies that are only voice SAMPLES or perhaps piano. I want to know more about tracks like this, because I CAN'T STAND a lot of melodic vocal tracks. (Shooting Star and Heart of Gold, for example. eew.)

Why is it that these tracks aren't popular? I love tracks by Fabulous Faber, also. Where can I find out more about producers of freeform tracks? Help me! I love hard, fast, freeform happyhardcore, but it seems that everything I read about is all SUPER melodic.

HELP HELP HELP....

...as you hear it, PUMP UP THE VOLUME!

Sorry but Fabulous Faber isn't freeform by a long ways. Freeform is generally darker, faster, and features a wide range of influences including trance, acid, goa etc.. mostly without vocals but there are still some great uplifting freeform tracks. The best source for freeform is http://www.nuenergy.co.uk , they've got tons of information and samples. You can have melodic happy hardcore without massive, cheesy vocals. We'd be able to help better if you gave us some examples of actual songs that fit your description.

Just to clarify Freeform is NOT a type of happyhardcore... It's just a subgenre of Hardcore in general... Leave the happy out. So, It's properly referred to as either Freeform (Hardcore) or Trancecore.

see my post on the second page of that thread that Oli posted for some good live sets that you can download from the net...

meh
there's a reason sharkey and marc smith made a track called 'Its All Just Hardcore'. when you try to draw a line separating freeform and hhc you'll have a lot of trouble. i've heard hhc dj's mix in all kinds of freeform tracks (White Russian's new hhc mix has Rez Out in it!) I play some freeform which can very easily fit into hhc sets (for example, Brisk + Trixxy - Back to the Top (original mix)).

The point is, if it sounds good and mixes well with your sound, play it. The name freeform still bothers some people who consider that sound to be hhc. maybe that's why some people still call freeform by the name Kenneth :P

History will be kind to me, for I intend to write it -- Sir Winston Churchill

I agree... It's all just hardcore... It's all just Electronica for that matter... One of my pet peeves are people and DJs who refuse to listen or play to certain tracks cuz of the genre they're classified as... In my opinion, one of the main drawbacks in the scene is too much scene splitting by genres...

Kenneth? Never heard that reference before... Is that in reference to the REM song "What's the Frequency, Kenneth?"
