i pretty much have no used for fm synths, but thot id play with it...

have to say that if i wer makina a new episode of star trek this hinhg would kick ass,but other that that...whats the use.... bell and metalic noises??

ooo the harmonics! lol.

on a similar rant....how pish is the layout of cs-80v i THINK its a subtractive synth lol....but it has the layout of an f16 cockpit! waghhhhhh!!! the complicatedness..... good presets tho, few!!

And to think the FM7 is much easier to use than the original FM synths such as the DX7 LOL

I've got heard some nice sounds come out of the FM7, but it is a pain int he rear if your used to subtractive synthesis

yea,no doubt underloop....dont get me wrong...great piece of kit...and from what ive played with, unbelieveable sounds subtractive could never touch.

but u no that way,i was listning and thought to my self, where would that go in a song.

and afrter closer inpection cb-80v isnt as bad as i first thought, but man...what a weid set out....supose its in respect to the original yamaha.

and u just cant beat linking oscilator frequency with lfos,or envelopes....it sounds sooooooo cool lol!

FM synthesis is really good, in my opinion it's pretty much as usefull as subtractive synthesis in my songs. FM synths create some really nice sounds that you can't always seem to get from subtractive synthesis :)
When it comes to pads though, i love AI 2 synthesis, which is what some Korg synths use, like the Korg X3: amazing pads and strings :)

It's another form of synthesis, you'll notice some Korg synths use it :) The most amazing pads (in my opinion) come from such synths :)
