Umm so yeah, lately I've been purchasing a lot of gabber recs and been trying to mix em but it usually ends up sounding really messed up. I don't know what it is but I can never get the bass sounds to coexist. Do I just kill off the bass on one side and immediately turn it up on the other? It just sounds really .. unhappy when I try fading between two gabber songs and when I try cutting it sounds really choppy. Any suggestions?

or do I just need more practice..

it's gabber, it's supposed to sound unhappy =P

you don't have to kill the bass completely, put it around 1/4th and try that. mixes sound 'meaty-er' if you have a hint of the kick drum from the incoming record.

but it depends on the tune, and a good chunk of the records I have the bass is in the mid-range.

yeah, just matching the bassline doesn't really work in many cases. in fact, some tracks demand just the opposite. if you have one with a massive kick and one with a more subdued kick then u shouls alternate the kicks if the bpm-rate allows it.
otherwise let one kick dominate into the other track and when the track reaches a break you switch dominance.

with the alternating beats i mean u take a track like meagashira's "lost in music" which has an easy bassline to let flow inot other tracks but but due to its pattern of beats it will at times seem as if it's softer beats are backing up the harder track's steady bassline in a different way. then when the first track breaks you let the back-up sear to it's peak and take the place of the previous one.

for someone who listens to hardcore you sure are prejudiced
im sure you whine when people who listen to rap or pop diss electronic music in general and now you turn around and diss gabber
please. respect all types of music.
besides, gabber is considered hardcore. You might not like it personally but that doesnt mean you should come over here and say gabber should be trashed.
I might not like country music too much but I generally respect those who listen to it and the music itself

now please, this was a thread about mixing gabber. If you have nothing to say then stop posting.

Gabba takes skills, otherwise it just sounds f**ked, and not in a good way , and i mean producing and mixing ..... gabba is hardcore .... along with freeform n breakbeat style .... you have to respect all type ... no ones forcing you to like it
