Ok i just dont get it! i dunno how to get any acapella and make parts fit into my song! im always producing at 181.5 and usually like to use samples that are always much slower (say 135) how can i do timestretching in cubase without knowing the original bpm. even when i know the bpm i still cant get it perfect because im usually trying to cut the phrase i want manual and cant piece it rite. can someone tell me how everyone else gets this done.

also what is the best and easiest way to chop vocals i hear everyone doing it but i dunno how yet. basically what i wanna know is what is used to make it happen; sampler, sequencer ....

please help.

Time stretching you HAVE to know the bpm of the file you want to stretch. Easiest way to do this (although least accurate) is to get some bpm counter software. One of those ones where you tap in each beat and it calculates the tempo based on how fast your tapping.

A more accurate way is to highlight an 8 or 16 bar section within the pella. This can then be used to calculate teh tempo within your audio app.

When it comes to placing vox, after timestretching, I decide where a certain word should be within the bar/phrase (ie what beat it falls on) and I use that to line it up. It might be easier though to drop the vox into a sampler and trigger it where you feel it is right within the track.

if you know the tempo of your sample you can:

Step 1) Divide 60 by your destination BPM.
Step 2) Multiply the result from Step 1 by the number of beats you have.

this will give you the amount of seconds you need to stretch the sample to.
