Hey, im thinking of getting a CDJ set, but there is several brands n models out there. Would anyone know if the price differences compromise the sound n precision that comes out of it, or is just the amount of features n functions that are on em.

Going by experience (Haven't bought any, just made lots of enquiries): The more expensive CDJ's have both more precision and more buttons!!
Out of any that are there at the min, I'd choose the Numark CDX one:
http://www.numark.com/ Looks properly nice!! Bit expensive though. There's also Technics CD mixer: http://www.panasonic-europe.com/technics/products/product_detail.asp?range=cdmixer Need to start saving for the Numark CDX...It'll look at home in my room... ---------------------------- Hello old chap, Ready for another one? Yes, ok. http://www.acidplanet.com/artist.asp?songs=230636&T=6205

The industry standard is the Pioneer CDJ-1000... The CDJ-100 is also used fairly often.
Because of this I'd recommend the CDJ-100 for home use since you'll get used to what you'll find in clubs/raves. (and it's cheaper)
I find the best is the Numark CDX - stay away from the technics one (no clubs use it and it has artifacts when you use some functions) - it's expensive though...
Last thing: if you're gonna be mixing properly don't get a "dual cd player" the likes of the American DJ stuff (I have one...the pitch faders are too small and imprecise)...
good luck.

My numark axis 9's are working great for me. Touch-Sensitve start/stop and pitch bending with the jog wheel. At least 8 sound FX. Got it for about half on ebay(300) than regular price (600).
The CDX is the step above this one...too pricey for me..and i dont like the idea of faking the funk with that big o vinyl dish....but thats just me...
Good luck with whatever you get
Breasts', The Breakfast of Champions.

he speaka da truth
but watch out stanton have come out with a cd deck called the "c.304"
it has all the functions of the CDJ1000...
...but it only costs $399.99
i havnt had a chance to use it yet though - we should be getting one in soon
but
the cdj1000's (around $999)
are leading the market at the moment.
they make mixing very easy, you can be very precise with keeping beats in time
the numark cdx(around $749)
is another favorite of mine - if you want to scratch, this is the bad boy to get, its as close to vinyl as your going to get, only drawbacks is there are no hot cue points like the pioneer does - the effects on it are good, better than the techinics cd deck by far.
the technics sldz1200 (around $799)
, well, if your going to buy them wanting to play mp3s...
...dont - every 4th mp3 it says "track error" - also its decoding on the fly which makes scratching mp3's sound like total crap, it goes all digital and icky. other than that the deck is ok, it doesnt blow me away though, people come into the store and start getting all gooey because it says "technics" on it - but imo technics have a fair bit of a way to go before they get up to pioneer standards. the platter spins but the imitation vinyl makes it feel pretty odd, very slippery.
if you want to mix but not scratch
get the
cdj200's (around $399),
they are sexy (unlike the plasticy cdj100's) and inspite of the fact that they cost under $400 - they play mp3s far better than the technics which whines as soon as it comes across something with vbr or an mp3 that is encoded oddly...
denons are good players too - but dont go near the DNS1000
if your looking to scratch, im not totally fond of them - but i know silver likes his :P
if you must buy now go with the cdj200, but if your willing to wait - have a look at what stanton have up they're sleave with the c304 - i cant wait to get my mits on one to have a play :D
so far there is only one picture on google image search of it -
http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&lr=&q=stanton+c304 (taken at a show by the looks of things) thats how new it is lol and admitedly it *looks* a bit cheesy - ie: that pitch control looks really tacky and 80s, but still,....worth a try i think --------------------------------- May Explode Without Warning click to visit: My DJ Website
