Hey is it possibly to create that stuttering timestreched sound often used on short vocal samples by the likes of Scott Brown using Reason?

An example I can think of off the top of my head is Scott Brown - "Pro"to*plasm"
(At the start on the bonkers 13 mix).

Thats not a very good example of the effect I want, in the better examples it starts off slow and grdually increases in bpm (pitch doesn't change) which suggests to me its a timestreching effect.

If its not possible in Reason, I have:

Acid 5.0, Prosoniq TimeFactory, FLStudio, & Audicity.

Any help appreciated!

I don't use any of the above software, but hte timestretched effectis made quite literally by timestretching

basically take the sample you want the effect on and stick it through a timestretch algorithm (time factory should do this). Make sure that you keep the same pitch and stretch the file to about 400% of its original length (add more or less to taste). voila, instant stutter!

I'm not familiar with Reason. But I believe that in general you would be looking for a tool call a Granulizer. It basically chops up the sample for you into overlapping pieces and then plays them sucessively. Voila, the stuttering effect.

Hey! I made a fairly good job of it by using Audicity by timestreching from 184 bpm to 46 bpm (-75%)

I could try using Reason's Malstrom as well? that does something called Graintable Synthesis, I wonder if thats similar to Granulizer?

But I'm 90% happy with the result I'm getting out of Audicity. its just a bit... quiet.

No, the graintable synthesis is only for the existing waveforms, you cant use the maelstrom to time strectch.

But that doesnt mean you cant do it.

What I do it this.

Put my wav file into an NN19 and in the piano roll put in a stream of notes ever 1/32th or 1/64th. Then automate the sample start button. Simple.

I can provide you with a rns if you so desire, pm me :)
