Does anyone know if this mixer is any good?
I wanted to buy a Pioneer DJM600, but I'm crap at saving money, and the Behringer is a quater of the price.
It looks like a nice alternative to the Pioneer.
Anyone used one? And does the BPM counter actually work?
Thanks!

this is not a good alternative! save your money =P
the bpm counter works but you shouldn't be using that in the first place. if you play out and the mixer doesn't have a bpm counter then what are you going to do? =P the effects section is crap too.
they only decent behringers are their mixing boards

behringer mixers are the shittiest mixers ever made. accept no substitute, save for the pioneer if you want it, or get a second job

Well, yeah, I've been mixing for about a year and a half now without a BPM counter, so I don't need one. I just thought it might be nice to have one if I ever took it out for mobile gigs just to make the job easier. But yeah, I agree that I really shouldn't get used to using a counter 'cause it won't always be there.

Already got 2 jobs. If I go for a third, I'll probably have a mental breakdown.
So can you tell me what's so bad about this mixer? The only thing I've heard so far is just that it's plastic and just looks cheap.

Behringer sounds like a solid Germany name but don't be fooled... their mixes are crap, I have used them several times / several models and they all suck major ass, their faders don't even fade volume correctly, the mixer itself does a very poor job of mixing the two sounds together and thus your volume is all over the place...
My recommendation is get a vestax or pioneer... if you want to sound like the best DJ's out there you have to have the best tools.

OK, at risk of embarrasing myself and labelling myself as one of the shittest DJs out there , I have the DJX700, no major complaints..... but yes there are a few things I don't like about it.
Brian, you say the BPM counter works..... well yes it does...... below 160bpm!!! and then its kind of touch and go, even with a straight trance track. But you really really shouldn't buy any mixer for the bpm counter..... although I was hoping the delay effects etc would be tied up with the bpm counter, but unfortunately not.
Silver correctly says about the volume faders, again correct, they seem to have a logarithmic curve on them so as your fading out with the up faders they will suddenly drop sharpish, so that takes some getting used to, and I guess it goes without saying that the build quality isn't as good as models 4 times its price so don't buy if your going to be gigging with it.
On the up side though, I've found it to be a reasonably reliable mixer. The effects are "ok", its nice having 4 channels to play with and the eq and kill seems to do a reasonable job. Sound quality is ok too (unlike some of their rackmount effects units! but thats another rant)
If you can afford the DJM600 then definitely get it over teh Behringer any day of the week, but if your looking for value for money then theres not that much wrong with the Behringer to my mind

Thanks for the advice guys!
I've currently got 2 different cheap mixers. I can mix on them fine, but I always feel that if I can master it on these, using a better mixer will be an absolute breeze.
But I think I'll be way better off waiting a while and saving up for the Pioneer DJM600, rather than buying yet another cheap mixer and still wanting the DJM600.

Yes! Please save up for it. It's the best mixer money can buy (in my opinion).

I have a Behringer and the fader breaks in like 2 months. And it sucks to scratch with. Pussy shit. What do you spin? Trance? Vestax or Numark or American Audio...... AA is cheap, BTW????? If you want 4 channels, I would go with American Audio...... Vestax makes a good 6 chaneller! A good shop I found is TheCoreStore.com, But you can't order online though.... Try it!

May I vouch for Vestax's quality? I bought mine off ebay, and it came in the post with a giant dent, missing fader caps, and non working right channel lights. However, after all the crap this mixer apparently went through, it sounds better (and scratches better without caps :P) than any mixer I have EVER used. Its a PMC-06A, and I would reccommend no other mixer brand. Triatomics NEW Pioneer DJM-600 hardcore croaked, but I 'll leave it to him to discuss that :P.
Vestax... or Sextax?
