I have a pair of numark tt200 and one deck has a stanton 500-II cart and (deck A) and the other a stanton 505 (deck B). The cart on deck B is much closer to the vinyl (probs less than 1mm) than the cart of deck A (maybe 2/3mm) and because of this, if i give the record a slight knock on deck B then it jumps whereas this doesnt happen on deck A. Iv tried using the thing which adjusts the height and iv tried fiddling with the tonearms but nothing works, the cart on deck B is always much lower.
Why is this? How can i fix it?
Any help would be much appreciated, cheers.
btw, i hav s shaped tonearms NOT the straight ones.

yea whenever i have a record that i find skips partcularly, i just stick a 2p piece on the tone arm, you can buy proper weights to d othis so u know this won't damage the needle or the record and it saves u having to go out and buy it
sorted

good good, but for those for us who aren't rich enough to replace our decks for a tiny problem.....

The thing is tho, if i put weights on then surely it will push the cart onto the actual record (as it is so close to it anyway) which would probably intesify the problem.
One thing i have noticed is that the little 'ledge' the tonearm rests on is bigger on the one that is further away from the record which could the problem. I'll try daves metod and report back!
Well i've changed them round and done everything i can think of but one is still really close to the record, even when i put the weight right on the end.

have you tried swapping round carts and headshells to see what the culprit is? Is it the tonearm, is it the headshell or is it the cart?
stick the headshell and cart that is fine onto the tonearm that isn't. If this works then it is either the cart or the headshell, so try the cart thats fine on the headshell and tonearm that isn't, and so on and so forth.... its a process of elimination. it may end up being that you need to buy a new headshell, which is alot cheaper than new decks
