when reading some of the other forum topics about recording, i read that some of u guys like using sound forge. Ive had it ever since i started mixing but the quality has always been a little shaky, so i was wondering when u record what option do u choose, creative soundmapper, or microsoft maper?

Choose the soundcard's direct inputs if you can. if not then go with the soundcard mapper and make sure you have your levels sorted properly in the soundcard mixer (the input section).
Sound quality is purely down to the soundcard, and absolutely nothing to do with soundforge.
