Here are three nice variants for me to choose from:
1. Cubase (+ Reason)
2. Sonar (+ Project5)
3. Logic (+Reason?)
I'm just starting out and my past music creation experiences are no more than some tracks made with Magix' Music Maker. ;-)
I know all leading programs are very good and probably more than enough, but every music style is different. Which would be the best choice for happy hardcore / trancecore / freeform?
Personally, I'm impressed with Sonar + Project5 combo... But is it good for this kind of music?

There's no certain program that's 'good' or made for a certain type of music, they can all allow you too make the same music. :) If you like the Sonar & Project 5 combo, then use it, Just use what you find you work well with. :)

As Seany has pointed out any of them combos will make any style of music, they are just sequencers, vst hosts, sound generators etc etc etc etc

I only use reason 2.5 and a midi keyboard, why do people use cubase as an external sequencer? whats wrong with the one on reason?

No, If he's happy using another one, then he can use that. Sure SX2 & Reason is a good combo but it's not vital too use it.

Reason's encoder adds a -6 db level to the exported wav/mp3 from what i hear, so it doesnt add such a totally user defined sound level.

The -6db level is when you connect a stereo device into 1 channel of the mixer, If it's split into 2 channels and panned, this doesn't happen.
^^ I read that in computer music, so don't cane me if it's not true.
But I have never had a problem when it come's to exporting.
