Don't be shy, with enough tweaking you can get it to sound like it's not quite your voice anyway. I've just put my voice into one of my tunes and I thought it would sound turd. It did. But then I put effects on it and now it sounds quite pleasing if I do say so myself.

No, that's not true.
Re-con doesn't sound fine, it's not just to him it sounds weird :P:P:P
just kidding, he's quite the singer actually :D
but if i can give you some advice, make sure it's isolated or that you feel isolated, get a bit trippy by warming up with other hardcore tunes and singing/screaming along, and immediately do your recording.
That way it'll turn out the purest, without having to sound fake :)
