Guys,
Im having touble recording my mixes. I know the setups fine, but when i record the volume goes up and down on the recording. But its only the recording. It happens when i record to my stereo and to my PC. Any ideas on the cause? Normalisation?

you sure the levels are equal on the tracks you're mixing? what mixer are you using? does it give a db read out for the individual channel?

Normalization can do it depending on if your using RMS or peek... although, need a little more info to say. Have you listened to a recording of it with out normalization?
Always save a copy and burn it to cd before you do any processing. :)

ok, if im just mixing, whether it plays through my computer or stereo it sounds fine. But if i record it, the recorded file/tape, the volume goes up and down..
I havnt actually added any processing to the file. I thought there may be some kind of dynamic normalisation to stop any peaking..

Are you recording straight from the mixer in both cases?
If so, try using another (like a friend's) & see if that changes anything.
If you're recording to your PC via the stereo, then, try it straight from the mixer as it may be the amp that's playing tricks.
I can't really think of anything else tbh.
