My trusty old SoundLab DD decks have just about had it, the brake on one is well, broken, and the other seem to have a pitch control that has developed a mind of its own! Anyway it's time to get me some 1210's, been looking around the internet and a couple of questions arise. Are the new Mk5's or Mk5g's worth the extra? I've seen Mk3's for quite a bit less, Do these still have the click in the middle of the pitch control (can be annoying)? Any1 know of any websites doing a good deal for a pair at the mo? (May consider 2nd hand if good cond.) Thanks in advance.
Si

Thats an ok price usually get a better deal with a deck/mixer combo but no doubt you have a mixer already. Mk 3's don't have the click on 0.

1210's all the way. All they are missing is removable cables which is not really a huge problem.

All these Technic lovers when are you's gonna realise that they a burnt out old deck. I mean they have to get with the times what have they done in all these yrs, took the click away at 0% and made the pitch go to plus 16% wahey! I'm not saying Technics are shit they are far from it but come on they were once the best deck on the market but now times have changed and the techs are struggling to keep up with the competition!

On / Off
Pitch -8 +8
33 & 45
Tone Arm
Needle etc.

Oh but wait look at my TTX1's they make coffee, shut up and **** off.

No, say what you mean Dave!!

I DO prefer TTX-1's over any other deck (i do own a pair of technics too)
but there is no way i can seriously say that Technics are past it/no good.

I completely agree with dave. I don't no why they even bothered making the pitch adj. go to +16 & -16 its just not needed.

Thanks for all the replies,
I like you Dave , u don't mince your words do? I did look at the ttx's, but I've never used them, which is really what stoped me buying some, I know people with and have used 1210 b4(in clubs ect.) and can't fault them, If I did get some ttx's I'd never use the gadgets. I like the sound of the =/- 16% because I like to play my hardcore a bit faster than I probabaly should do, and that leads to some records(mainly older ones) not being able to spin fast enough. Also when I'm playing about I'll mix different genres of musis 2gether, D+B into hardcore sounds good! Also trancecore, hard trance ect.
Got a caal 2day to conferm my order, bastards can't deliver until the beggining of October!!!! Boooooo!!!!!
As for the leads hardwired into the decks, its not really a problem (you can't loose your phono leads in transit, or forget to take them to a party(done that b4!)) I'm an electronics engineer so I will probabaly fit some phono sockets to them at work if I find the time, Cheers all

Si

No you can't loose the leads but fixed leads are easier to damage when moving the decks around and if they do get damaged its not just a case of swapping the leads over. That said they have a life time garantee and mine have never broke and I take them all over the place!
