I have seen what looks like a lazer that rotates through four different colours. I saw this on an old Thunderdrome video but it may have been four different lasers placed next too each other and linked up to work with each other. Does anyone no of such a set up and if so who mght make one?

I built 2 laser systems myself from parts... They are super expensive.

Laser:
1 pound - millions of pounds.

Power supply:
150 pounds

Scanners (mirrors):
1200 pounds

Control system (computer and software):
1500 - 25,000 pounds

I had a 200mwatt green YAG system it cost me about 4000 pounds to make - I made my money back renting it over a 2 year period.... but it's hard work... lasers break easy and you have to take care of it.

A low end color laser (normally white light laser with an optic to split the colors) will cost about 5,000 pounds just for the laser - You still need to buy scanners, controller, power supplies, cables and other crap...

A white light laser can produce 16 million colors. Older laser systems used a combination of overlaping red, green, blue lasers to create 16 colors.

Unfortunately I have already seen the extremely high prices of lasers (still recovering from the heart surgery) but I need to put together a good lighting rigg and i'ts my personal opinion that you can't have one without a laser.

You built yours from parts! I know bits and bobs about electronics but I think I may struggle with that, i'm willing to look into anything though. Did you know how to do this before you started building them? Any idea's of good places where I may be able to just buy one from though? doesn't have to be new. Also of good makes.

No pics sorry... kind of stupid when I think about it...

I build it from parts and basically assembled them, made all the cables, connectors and alighted it all up... took me a while but it was not easy and I dont recommend it.

What's your budget and I'll make some recommendations?

If at all possible between £6.000 - £8.000 but if it needs to be more then I will pay up.

If it adds a large lump to the cost for it to change colour then it is not that important, if fixed I would want it to be green.

Yeah you should be able to get something good for that... I assume you want as powerful as you can get for the money? If not what size venues you looking at?

I'll ring up a few of my old suppliers and try to get a good price for you... Do you already have a DMX512 controller? If so we might be able to get you something that is compatable.

Nope not yet. At the moment we only have a very small lighting rigg and we don't run it through a controller as we are only running small party's. We are being given a grant by a company we have been in talks with and will start doing bigger party's once we have all the licenses we need and are confident we are completely ready as we want to get this right! I do all the lighting for are party's and am loking into prices, suppliers etc. for stuff were going to need when we start to get off the ground (next year if all goes well). I know it's early to be looking into it but I want to be completely prepared so I cause no hold ups as we already have a sound system and I may need to act fast when the time comes. Also we want to give the impression we know exactly what were doing to the company that is backing us. Any help you can give with good suppliers and prices etc. would be greatly appreciated as I need to get all this info together.

We are fine for other types of lighting as we can get hold of cheep martin equipment but can't seem to get much info on large lasers.

We do need a fair bit of power but something as reliable as possible is always a help, I know you did say lasers aren't reliable but I assume some are more reliable than others? We should be starting with 1000 capacity venues at the very very least and this will grow if we don't crash and burn so bigish venues.
