Went up to talk to the dj last night at our local student pub, just to se how things where and if it might be possible to play there sometime. He offered me to do a mix (40top crap music mind you).
Anyway, I have only played vinyl (getting pretty good at it) but I'm looking to buy a cdj so it was nice to try.
They have the axis2's, I guess they are ok, I had no idea how to cue a cdj so it was kind of hard.
But worst was the sony headphones, I have Senn's HD25 at home, and the sonys where really bad, I can't se how anyone can seriusly dj with those.
I also learnt somthing important, always bring a flashlight! This dj hadn't, and it was a mission to find a song in the dark.
I ended up just fading in the next track, the people on the floor didn't care and I have much more fun playing hardcore in my bedroom!

Conrgatulations :) If your playing there again, try to play few (vocal) Hardcore tunes, just to see if they like it :) If they dont like it then just go with the regular top-40 ones. Coz in some places people just want to dance to tunes that they know, so you can play e.g. Brisk & Brown "Back & Forth" ;)

Think you'll find if your playing pop music or whatever your only expected to fade the songs in and out my mate has a mobile disco playing commercial chart music and that's all he does. First time I played at a party I found it really nerve racking my hands were shaking all over the place soon got into it though it's a real good feeling spinning tunes with a crowd stomping hard infront of you.

Haha, yeah I know, I've tryed to timestrech the B&S remix of Torn before for this puropse. 170BPM to 130BPM but it sounded terrible. Well the quality of the stretch was fine but the riff was soooo slow!
