What exactly is the difference between Stanton Str8-100's and St100's? They seem to have to same features but there must be something one has and the other doesn't...
Before I went to my Dad's lounge (he owns 2 restaurants. 1 that's really cool with a hip lounge upstairs with a dj booth and another one that's more for families.) Anyways, when I went up to the lounge a checked out the turntables and I was like woah...! They were Technics SL-1210 MK5's!! I couldn't try to do anything cause they're weren't any records and everytime I'd put my hands near em he'd say, "DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING! JUST LOOK!" HaHa. Yup. So what's your opinion on it's looks? When I saw it, I didn't see anything special to it...I think i'd like to get Stantons. Yeah.
And another question, which is newer? Stantons Str8-100 or ST-100??

as i see it the two are the same model of deck, the difference is that the str8 has a straight tone arm, placing much more up/down pressure on the records. This makes it much more suitable for scratching as it improves traction.
The st-100's have an "s" shaped tone arm which provides a more lateral pressure, meaning less record wear and a better sound quality (usually marginal) yet are slightly more prone to skipping.
it's all down to what you're going to use them for really, if you're intrigued by scratching then go for the srt8's, although im sure you could buy the tone arms seperatley if you changed your mind afterwards.
hope that helps a bit

So if I'd like to some scratching I should go for Str8's with the strait tone arm.
Oh alright. Well thanks!
Another thing, what exactly does "skipping mean"? Like a couple of seconds of the music will just be skipped over and not played??

or if you are scratching the needle will have a tendency to jump to a different section while you are rotating the record
both of those decks came out at the same time
the only thing i like about the stanton's is the direct digital out

Alright, so what decks do you recommend BESIDES Technics? LoL. They're a little bit too expensive for the average 14,15 year old that doesn't have a job. HaHa!
Last night I dreamt that my sister got turntables and all the other stuff you need. And she just stacked everything up in the corner of the room. Since she wasn't using them I decided to ask her if I can use them; so I hooked them up...I tried mixing and it was soo hard, plus I didn't know what I was doing so yeah. But usually in dreams sometimes things are supposed to be easier. If I found it difficult in my dream I can only imagine how hard it is. LoL
