Hi All,
Ive been playing around with some gear for a while now, but just out of curiosity if I wanted to get the most punch out of my drums to get that Hard Dance sound will I need to buy a Hardware compressor or Software compressor?
some advice and tips will help me get past this Hurdle :)

Well most people will probably say hardware, but there are a few software compressors out there that get the job done, Endorphin is a free one, and it's quite nice, clean & tight. Even better than that are the waves series of compressors. Give Endorphin a try before you go out and spend serious money on a hardware compressor.

Cool, yeah Im actually thinking of going hardware for the compressor only,
I've been told Focusrites are a very well known product for making those snappy punchy kicks, so I think I might throw some $$$ on one of those units,
I purchased a behringer Model 9024 compressor, but for some reason the changes to the mix were very very subtle. (even when compressing hard as!)

Before you go spending hundreds of £ or $ on a hardware compresser you need to think about a decent sound card (if you haven't allready got one). It's no good spending hours crafting a tune and then to hammer the quality by running it in and out of a standard sound card.

I have a delta 1010 sound card which is a pretty good card.
the only problem is finding the right compressor.
so what do most of the high profile dance musicians use for compressors?
