Thanks to everyone who helped me with my questions re: getting started with my reason setup. my first tune is almost complete, and i found some great trance leads from the 10001 malstrom refill, which have been invaluable. Now my first tune is nearly done i've been messing around trying to produce a gabber style beat using the re-drum on reason, but i've had no success as yet, does anyone have any advice?
Once again thanks to everyone who has helped me to get going producing hardcore :-)

yeah the distorted TRs are good ideas but i recomend you get hammerhead (it's free) put it in google, download it and then sample it you can get some good paul elstak style kickdrums if you overdrive it some how.

If you have fruity loops or another program that uses VSTs, find a Tube VST (adds warmth/cold, gives a very nice distorted sound with overdrive) and re-wire it with reason

You need to use the scream distortion unit for youe kicks. I can send you a reason file if you want with some patches and kicks set out.

something else that I'll do is layer a couple kick drums over each other to make it punch harder

Stomper Hyperion!! check this out too, it's more techy but it's got alot of presets including a nice cheesey eastenders style "simmons" drum/tom sound!!!

Stomper Hyperion!!
Yeah, that's pretty good and its free. But the pop up that tells you to listen to his music is a pain in the arse.
And hows that tune going.
