How can you tell when your cartridge is well and truly knackered - I am pretty sure that my stylus is duff as sound quality of my vinyl has recently been getting worse and worse - and I would like to know also what people think of the shure whitelabel cartridges and if they are ok (and if not which cartridges have leat wear on the vinyl)
Cheers...

yeah have to agree from my experience Stanton do make very robust needles and at a great price.
I have used Stantons a few times and had no complaints.
One thing about letting needles wear too far past there life span,if you value your vinyl, change them
Shure are good for not putting too much pressure on your grooves, but are still weighted nice, esp for scratching as well,
no infact the m447 is awesome for scratching or quick movements with vinyl.Have a pretty good frequency range too.
Not shure (lol) i have seen the white one's

I've got ortofon concordes, they will get very weak and I'll have to turn the gain up when they start to go bad... also, one channel will come through louder than the other and I'll have to pan it accordingly.
Never owned stantions, but from people who have, they seem to last a really long time, they also seem to be pretty loud compared to others.
I'm a nOOb
