hi, im a beginner. No, Im no rave shit trying to be a dj for a day. This is a serious commitment and hobby I want to do!
So please give me some advice. Even though its a belt-driver and stuff, do you still think its a good investment for a beginner?
I just dont wanna spend a lot of money and get some garbage turntables that break like the 2nd day I have them lol. Its just to start, I would eventually buy something nicer in the future.

you'll probably want to get new headphones right away but apart from that go for it mate, they should be fine for a beginner

don't get belt drives, simple as that, invest the extra money for direct drives. a lot of them are the same price if not only a bit more. you'll thank yourself before it's all said and done.

Ive just spent £450 or there abouts for my first setup.
Spent extra money to ensure i got a half decent pair of direct drives. The mixer looked to be the best i could get in a package around that price.
Headphones are very poor and so are the cartridges etc, but i dont mind shelling out for some better ones in the near future.

if you really want to be serious i'd buy yourself a pair of technic 12's
you can get used ones at a fairly decent price and they last for years. my friend has a 12 from '78 that still works fine.

I totally agree DONT get belt, $299 for belt drives seem a little over price. I would have a look around mate. Though they are good for a beginner I would NOT buy belt drive turntables. I have Numark TT1650's and they superb turntables. I spent around £400 on the setup for this and that was my first setup as well. ============== DJ Sytronik www.dabassline.com Drum And Bass N Hardcore In Da Place

If your not looking to spend alot of money, I got the Numark (DIRCT DRIVE I MIGHT ADD) Battle pack for a good 299$ I think. Comes with two decks mixer and headphones, not a bad deal for a beginner. That is how I got started.

listen to this guy. I have them, and i havnt spun for about 2 months. If the guy there tries to tell you "they wont skip because they have a straight tone arm" then he's a lying git, because mine skip everywhere and they are set up correctly. Believe me, its worth the extra money, as you'll get stressed and buy them anyway as soon as you get good. DD are especially important if you want to learn to scratch, because of the immediate start/stop and the lack of skipping. A lot of hardcore vinyl these days is sadly put onto crap quality vinyl, really flimsy stuff which skips everywhere. Directs are definately 500 times better than belts. As for the gemini decks, they are good decks and i had to choose these or the stantons, but i chose stantons because i didn't have much cash :/. gemini are generally quite good for decks obvioulsy not up to vestax/technics level but they are quite reliable. one more thing, get a nice pair of carts, if you're going all out scratching get a nice sturdy pair of shures. If possible try to get gemini's with a straight tone arm as they reduce the amount of skipping - but don't completely stop skipping of course. Good luck on your new hobby ;) - Rob / Blasphemy

The facts are simple. If you learn on belt drives, when you do decide to upgrade to direct drives you are going to have to learn all overagain. This is most likely going to give your confidence a real downer. I bought myself some Numark TT500s and the DMX1002MK2 mixer. Now I know everbody says stay away from Numarks be these babies are so much better than the 1210 MK2s I have played on before.

noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
do not get those turns m8 iv heard bout them they r sh*t. get ur self a set of dds. a gr8 starter pack would b a set of soundlab dlp - 32 dd. -10 +10 pitch with bend controls n adjustable arm height available in black or silver cost mayb £200 each.
as for mixers a pmx 140 would do u, it has kills, eq, gain, hamster mode, fader curve, split cue and mic input very cheap i think around £110 - £120
but dont buy beltdrives, an absolute waste of money.

Trust me when I say this DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT GETTING ****ING SHITTY BELTS DRIVES I made the mistake of getting belts when I was starting and **** that was the worst mistake ever thank **** I sold them on after a couple of months and bought TTX1s.
1. touch the record and the platter stops!
2. you can't scratch even if they have straight tonearms.
3. eventually the pitch will start to waver making it beatmatching ****ing more difficult than it already is!
4. you may make sure the table you have them on is very sturdy or even the slightest bump will make them skip.(which is ****ing annoying if your recording a mix)
There is probally lots more reasons but my head has gone blank, my point of this post is really
DON'T BUY ****ING BELT DRIVES IF YOUR SERIOUS ABOUT DJING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Es , SPEED , TRIPS AND BLOW HERE WE ****ING GO!
