I'm using goldwave to records my sets to my PC now. Everything sounds fine going through the speakers but the program is recording way too loud. The sound is distorting and becomming grainy. How would I stop this?

rightclick on the speaker icon in your taskbar and click "Open Volume Control". Then go to options/properties. select "Adjust volume for recording" and make sure "Line in" and "Mic In" are ticked. Click OK and then you can adjust the fader for the input gain on whatever input you have the decks connected to (hopefully Line In). If you don't have them connected to "Line In" but have them connected to the mic input instead then you will get horrible distortion as the output from your decks should be at line level. Mic input passes it through another amplifier, so amplifying the sound yet again.

either that or you have your mixer too loud. Turn it down a bit and turn the volume on the amp up so its at a volume which you can mix at (quite obviously) and if underloops suggestion doesnt work then mine probably will. btw, by grainy, do you mean it like cuts out in parts really fast, or just sounds generally crap?

generally like crap.
I fixed the problem, I had my mixer way too loud. Sounds a lot better now and I'll be posting it somewhere soon for download if anyone can suggest a site.
Wasn't use to the decible meter on Goldwave but I got it now.

ok cool m8
for hosting its either a free lycos account (proper crap though), buying your own webspace or buying space on mixtapehost.com - a lot of people download from here, its a cool way to get your mixes pimped
