How much are you planning/willing to spend?

My PCV-175 is nice. Fader is like butter. Kill switches are pretty useless and get in my way on the rare ocassion. All in all its a sweet mixer. Great to learn on and totally capable of delivering what you need for a nice mix bad for scratching...

I did that with a pair of Gemini 500xl and my Vestax.

...do it hardcore...

I'm gona spend $3000 NZ dollars duno wot that is in USA but I think ya times it by 3 for england, anyway I really want a mixer that I can learn on and use for everything else once I'm pretty good coz I dont want to have to buy and sell all the time, I'm not sure if theres a hardcore movement in New Zealand hope there is coz I want to make hardcore well known here!

Do what I'm going to do. If there isn't a scene practice, then build one. But yeah, the Vestax are nice. Never used a pioneer but Im sure they are club standard. Pricey though.

...do it hardcore...

Pioneer are great but allso very expensive. If you want good quality for a reasonable price look into Vestax. If your gonna scratch i reccomend the pmc 05proII o9r if your not look at the PCV 275. ( dont get the pvc 175 though as they are a lot lower in quality and i believe have been taken out of production due to faults. ) Allso you wont need to worry bout getting new faders or upgrading coz they are just top quality

thanks for that guys , just a few more questions wots ya opinion of the numarks coz they have some digital mixes like the ppd01, and norms called matrix and the dm series yadayad. I had a look at the vestax site and like their mixers its geting close to the one I want.

My opinion of Numark products isn't very high. My first mixer was Numark and it was crap. Even though it was just a scratch mixer, my experience with some of their "top end" mixers were pretty substandard as well. Pioneer is good if you're willing to spend the extra money, but I would say Vestax is your best bet, just try to find one that really suits you.

Numark have made reasonable mixers for years but they dont seem to be very high quality. I know they are bringing out some great products now like the TTX1 decks ad the axis cd decks, but i dont think they have a mixer up to that standard yet. The faders wont last

Despite my warnings my buddy got that Numark Matrix mixer about a year back. Spoke with him recently and he said the mixer's still working perfectly, so maybe numark quality is going up, or he just got lucky. He scratches on it plenty btw and the crossfader is supposedly fine, but I'll have to check it out myself

they are definately a good product but ive tried em and there is a massive difference in the feel of the fader. The faders on the vestax are just so smooth

Definitely go Pioneer or Vestax. The difference between them and cheaper mixers is incredible.

i got a ppd01 and although everyone always advises against numark products i have to say that this is a excellent mixer! its solid, the faders are nice (obviously not up to the vestax standard but still pretty damn good) the effects are brilliant quality and i love the way u can control them using the fader and curve knobs. its pretty simple to get used to and theres loads of stuff to fiddle and play around with and all for a price that wont get your legs broken by angry loan sharks!!

john peel is not enough!!

marcus augustus is no more I finally thought of a dj name to call myself so i got rid of all the stuff on my other profile and changed the password and forgot it, but hey thx again I'm now deciding whether to get a pair of numarks or technics decks, but I think I'll get the vestax mixer if i can afford it if not then its the numark I'll get coz I know some dude here selling the matrix3 which is usually $1399 for $700
