Has your mum got a table you can 'borrow'? I did that years ago and she never got it back - I even cut a section out to drop my mixer through!!
Whatever it is, make sure it's sturdy!!

My computer table is from my mothers childhood home,
It's bright red, so probably from the 70's :)

I got a wooden workbench from B&Q's bargain corner for something like a tenner I think.... its perfect... nice and sturdy, the right size, perfect height when standing and has a shelf underneath

Stole some milk crates from the local 7/11 put them under the boxes that the turntables came in. Did this for about 4 years until I bought this about 12 months ago:

Okay I saw this once, and though it was genious..
No matter what we did, we coudn't make it jump.
x4 6-7 cement blocks for each foot
x4 Tennis Balls
x1 Sheet of thick wood. (We used an old folding table, ripped off crappy metal legs)
Vola..
Ghetto, but looked wikkid!

About 500 dollars.... it's a DJ desk that can hold 600 records... Living in Japan and having a 1000's of vinyl I needed to buy something that would also help me store my vinyl... This was the best thing since wood is well expensive here.

Used to throw at the DJ when he fluffs a mix
Seriously though, I imagine they are cut in half and placed on top of the breeze blocks. Then the wood is rested on the half-balls. The theory being it absorbs any external vibration and prevents the records jumping

Only I never cut the tennis balls the weight of the tables, mixer, and wood squeezed them about half.. made a nice even surface, and hald as hell to make it skip..
