Hi everyone

Im new to the site so go easy on me and apologies in advance if i've posted in the wrong area or have asked a question perviously asked.

I grew up listening to 90s hardcore and hitting events like SV and Helterskelter. Ive been recently trying to reconnect with the old tracks me and my friends used to love with a view to doing an hour DJ set at an event i play at from time to time. however im hitting a brick wall trying to find any of this music.

Does anyone know if there is somewhere i can find digital downloads of tracks of this era please? Im talking about stuff like... Dune - I Can't Stop Raving, Tiny Tot - Discoland, Force & Styles - Follow Me etc etc. Also old skool breaks stuff like Bomb Scare and Ragga Clash.

Any advice greatly appreciated.Otherwise its off to ebay to try and source original vinyl. (Unsuccessfully im sure)

Cheers

Check out Kniteforce?s site they repress some tracks from around that era and have digital collections of kniteforce and remix records etc.

For me Kniteforce is one of the best suppliers of ?Hardcore? music now, they release new tracks in an old skool/hardcore style and also release a lot of original old skool/rave remastered stuff, they have a Shades of Rhythm collection coming soon, previously released a force and evolution box set and also a Jimmy J & Cru-L-T album soon, they work with a lot of artists to get the music from the era you are interested in re-released, but as yet gave tended not to do loads and loads of Happy Hardcore, usually slightly earlier stuff.

Try Juno and beatport, they have some tracks on there, try Discogs and you can find vinyl or cds. Some very pricey though on Discogs. Try Hardcore Underground, they have vinyl groover back catalogue digitally etc.

Unfortunately a lot of hardcore, especially the happy hardcore stuff has never and won?t likely ever get a good quality digital release for many reasons including simply that the original masters for some tracks (eye opener for example) have been lost.

In the pandemic there was talk of the force and styles back catalogue and the raverbaby back catalogue being remastered and released, but unfortunately this seems to be an ongoing subject that is mentioned by Hixxy, Force etc but never gets any traction.

thanks so much for the advice mate. Will check out some of these.

I did suspect that many tracks of this era would either be lost or the label who released them was closed etc. Real shame that in some cases a core part of dance music history will be lost eventually.

Hi mate,

A little bit off topic but there is a new label called BuddaBeats in the North East. They have just started releasing old skool sounding bouncy techno / hardcore. Here's a link to their Bandcamp:

https://buddabeats.bandcamp.com/

They have also released their first vinyl which I can vouch for is great!

You can find some "restoration" projects over at HU and 24/7 Hardcore

https://247hardcore.bandcamp.com/
https://hardcoreunderground.co.uk/store
https://justanotherlabel.bandcamp.com/

And you can find various older labels if you search for famous names like Scott Brown, Brisk or Ham on either Toolbox or Beatport

https://www.beatport.com/
