Hixxy & Sharkey - Toytown (Haze Dub Update) - Made Sep 2021. Mastered by Haze. Made for Happy Hardcore producers group on Facebook.
Why remix Toytown, there are plenty of versions?
I wanted to explore spectral layers 8 in Cubase 11 and was listening to Bonkers 1 and thought let's give Toytown the vocal mix a go. I got very close, unfortunately the artefacts from the Toytown stab was still quite present, even with further techniques I still wasn't happy. The vocal is also out of key in places and any slight adjustment changed the stab sound underneath and caused too many issues. Hence the dub mix sounded a lot better and it's now on my soundcloud page.
Just after Xmas I reached out to Tom Heist after hearing his awesome remake of 'Aha Ha Ha' and asked if he would be happy if I completed the remake. He agreed and sent me the bits, I spent a bit of time in quarantine just after I arrived into Australia from the UK and started. I sourced some of the samples missing from a live Hixxy set and processed the audio files in spectral layers. The results were quite good so I pushed on. I recently revisited the project file and mixed down the song from scratch. This is the result.
