Does anyone do this? Be it on Facebook, YouTube etc.... I've tried downloading apps onto my phone, different leads etc. But it never seems to work properly. I'm wondering what gear people use to do this so you get the sound from the mixer? Be it a laptop, or something else?

<2012 I'd take the tape output of the mixer and just pass it to the line-in on the computer's sound card. It was a bit buzzy but it was good enough for the time.
2012-2017 I took the output of the device in question and pass it to the line input on whatever laptop I was using at the time
2018-Current I just use the mixers native PC card feature to fetch the recording loopback. It eliminates the line-in cable altogether.
Hadn't worried about video livestreaming as I didn't have both the capabilities and a radio show where I could do that in realtime until about 2015. I settled on using OBS Studio on PC: It's straightforward enough to get streaming to wherever it needs to go, and it's flexible enough to adjust as my needs changed.
OBS currently takes care of authenticating with Twitch while capturing a webcam and the recording loopback from my mixer.
