"160 gives more room for the sound"

How did tracks get produced before at 170+ and have plenty of room for the sound (Whatever that actually means)

Hardcore is not supposed to be 160, and no one can claim that either.

I agree, hardcore should be fast & uplifting. I used to play at 184bpm, but now i play at 176bpm. I do sometimes play at 180 + still though. The 160bpm stuff i will play at 168, or if it sounds ok i will play it in a 176bpm set

Trying to slow down the music has always been a horrible idea.

I hate to generalize, but as a matter of definition I don't consider anything below 170 to be hardcore.

Plenty of happy hardcore from the mid-90s onwards (all on big labels too like NG/UK Dance/Essential Platinum etc) which was below 170, not worth getting ones knickers in a twist over.

if it sounds like a duck it probably is a duck.

A bunch of Vinylgroover 1996 stuff hoover around 169BPM with a very few going down to 164BPM

Shooting Star (Ham and Euro mixes) are 171 and 169 BPM
