Something that i think about quite often this, is do i actually spend enough time on my decks. I usually get on them once every couple of weeks. This has in the past led to me thinking about selling up /downgrading from my current setup. Only as i have a stack of vinyl that i play even less than when i use my cdj's.... I know everyone is different etc, life gets in the way and all of that stuff.

I normally mix once a week. Sometimes more.
At the moment I am taking a hiatus while I am sorting music.
I have had the feeling I don?t use them enough before.
When I got them in 2018 I only used them once every few months. Since I started uploading I have used them a lot more.

Ah, cool. I don't usually go on them unless i am doing a recording. I sometime also think i maybe upload too many sets, but i also see people on SoundCloud uploading mixes every other day. I think last year i recorded around 26 mixes, which is probably about right for the amount of times I've actually used them give or take the odd pissed drinking sesh where i have fired them up haha

Last year I think I recorded 44 mixes. I also had some failed sessions. I try now and release once a week.

Yeah, i think that is what i am now going to try and aim for too, or at least twice monthly. Once a week would be good on a set day, but it is sometimes hard to fit in with work etc

Since lockdown and working from home started last year and I got back into DJing I've been doing 2 live streams most weeks and then sometimes an extra session just for a play around.

100 sets recorded last year, some going! I wish i had the time to go on them that often.
What do you think of the MK7's? I've got a pair of mk5g but i don't find them as tight for mixing as a pair of mk2. But i sometimes think is it all in my head with them being digital pitches....

I used to record mixes all the time. I'm on the decks at least once a week anyway for my shows but don't really have the time to have random mixes whenever I want, like I used to.

MK7s
i like um, i used to mix on a mk2 and a mk5...
a story as ive had a few drinks.
remember never let the truth get in the way of a good lie. ;)
about the year 2001 i started on the numarks TT-2 pros ? (they had a + - 20 pitch) which was great for mixing old tracks into new tracks. (this all links into MK7s)
then i got hold of some mark2s 1210s about 2005ish around 2009 started to do internet radio.
Mcat came to the front, which we used to get off ebay as plant food (its original name before it became mainstream)
about the time i got a puppy so had the get a letter catcher thing on the front door, as it was just coming through the letter box like the papers, dogs chew through stuff etc etc anyways..
shit ended up in the turntable.. flutter causes the turntable to rotate...(thats a dougal n gammer track ;)) i think it was more liquid tho that ****ed the deck.
so then i found a pair of mk5s on ebay for sale in nottingham, so i got them, wired them up n then got some more stella into the mix in one of the decks.
but i had me spare mk2. thus ended up with one mk5 and one mark2.
(ladies and gentlemen, if you would like to whizz this forward now)
so..
then the mk7s came out, i was looking the get the mk5gs, but always thought they was a bit expensive. so sold me mk5s (i kept the broken one, which i got repaired) the other mk2 which broke got the hammer treatment, i dont do DIY!!
which when i got them reminded me of the TT2s, with the pitch range so i can mix me old old old tracks into my old tracks.
to answer your question tho lol ;)
yes i love my MK7s, i like the pitch, i think its better than then the old style turntables, might not be as tight but easier to adjust to keep the timing on point. the only thing with the MK7s is they light as a feather, great for bedroom room djing, in a club with a lot of bass around them i feel they would bounce the tracks alot.
thank you, your welcome, you deserve a medal for reading this.

Well, my traktor scratch interface burned out so for the past 2-3 weeks I've been mixing almost every day on my wego. My nephew keeps insisiting I do "DJ's" so I give in and play for him. I've actually found it a little liberating to not worry at all about beat matching using the wego. Main focus: track selection and scratching where appropriate. lol!
I had become so dependent on the traktor DVS that it took me while til I realized I could just spin my old vinyl anyway, as well as using traktor with the wego.
After a little adapting I must say it's fresh and fun again. :)

prior to the burnt out interface, I'd say I was practicing at least twice a week in the last 3-6 months.

Since about 2015 I've been spinning once a week for the radio show.
It seems to be a good balance to keep the rust away.
I had been making mixes since 2004/2005 ish, but I didn't even own a controller until 2012. Before then it was anyone's guess when I'd do a mix, live or not, but it started becoming a regular thing once I had some dedicated gear to work with.
I guess you could count the occasional gig as well. I did a crapton of online gigs last year, since I already conveniently had everything set up to do so. All it really required on my part was to put together sets and make sure I could schedule the dang things in.
If we're talking just putting together mixes I also do a monthly mix thing using MixMeister, but that is a whole different bag of tricks.
