In the next week or so it's been 16 years since this happened. WOW!! Time has just flown by. In the back of my mind this still seems relatively new, but sadly the music and genre have changed. Who remembers this then? Who stayed up and listened to it live? I don't think it was broadcast particauly late. If I recall it was from 23:00 to 01:00. ???
The genre was really reaching it's peak around then. 2004 was such a great year for UK Hardcore. At this point we were only weeks away from Bonkers 12.
Stand out moments include on this mix include ...
CLSM ft. Stefan Booth - Free Your Mind (Sy & Unknown Remix) V.A.G.A.B.O.N.D & MC Wotsee - Huggermugger Dougal & Gammer - Know the Score Marc Smith & Scott Brown - Hardcore U Know the Score DJ Kurt - Rock Ya Hardcore.

I remember the only radio I had at the time was a clock radio, not exactly the best for listening haha. I remember I listened to the first bit then caught the rest on a recording someone posted on USH the next day when I could listen on proper speakers. It was totally surreal hearing hardcore on Radio 1, was probably the first time I'd heard any sort of interview with the big DJs/producers too! I reckon a couple of years either side of this show were the peak for my interest in the music, so much good stuff around.

Yes recorded it on tape! Found the tape, I've got 19.03.04 written on the tape details. I've also got a Hixxy mix on the same tape from 2 days before that which he did on Radio 1.

Plus System - Is This the Future. I absolutely f**king loved that. Still do, and still love all those old Plus System tracks. Scott really had that sound nailed.

By sheer coincidence we were talking about this show only this morning.
I remember listening to it, a very special time for the scene.

There was a few guest mixes around 2003-2004 on JP's show. I had a Sharkey mix that started off with those breaks tracks from Bonkers X. I'm sure the Blizzard Boys done a guest mix as well. Oh how times have changed.

Find it difficult to listen to live broadcasts, or events/live sets from that time. Such a great time for the music and in my life generally. Not that Im unhappy now, but it genuinely feels like Im mourning my own death. Nostalgia is such a weird feeling.
