The thing I don't get is the authorities let large scale crap music events like Glastonbury go ahead, which would have had way more deaths than Q Dance events in Holland . Yet they turn a blind eye to it. If anything Glastonbury should be banned with their track record.
The closest thing I thing I know of that the UK ever had was Rezerection in Scotland.
Your right though. Uptempo Hardcore is definitely exploding in Europe. One of the reasons I think Thunderdome back putting on events.
That's because most of the music is socially accepted in most countries. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if there was more drugs involved on the likes of Glastonbury per capita than a rave
UNfortunately that is exactly the case. You see, drugs in the 90's were more rife probably than they are now. It was cheaper to get a 7 bag and 30 pills and flog it all on the night and make a decent few quid. Drugs were everywhere around the rave scene, BUT with that being said, they were no where near as bad as they are these days. People died, but it was nearly always through allergic reaction or dehydration, people would overheat and not drink water, or drink too much or just have a massive reaction to the drugs, I don't know one person who OD'd from e's or speed.
I remember being outside in the queue for Kinetic, and a bloke was across the road , I turned one minute at the carpark and was a few guys there, next the DS had 2 guys cuffed and ppl scattering everywhere, my mate ran into the queue and hid, the fking DS were hiding all around the place, waiting. They were the same at the raves, the amount of time coppers asked me if I had any pills , lol they were so obvious, trying to catch ppl out. Idiots.
BUT with that being said, it was enough to build a case against the various establishments. The pressure came onto them to clean up the clubs, but that was impossible. More and more arrests meant places just struggled to keep their licenses.
You are right, there are plenty of big shithouse festivals like Glastonbury, which was always really known for being an "indie rock" kinda deal, like the reading festival, V festival, etc etc etc, all were shitty indie bands.
The UK lost it's mojo for Rave / Dance festivals. We won't ever get it back now, it had a golden time in the 90's but it's over now. As much as I wish it wouldn't be.
We need a club, again, like Kinetic, that has a simple license, 8 til 4 would be ok, hardcore main room, alternative other room, and police it well, but not just UK hardcore, mix it up with the European hardcore, and it will get popular again. I just don't see it being allowed tbh. The "drug culture" around the music is something that's never going away.

But i'd love to be proven wrong.
Yeah your right, the media and police were all attacking the rave scene in a big way back then. I think the main reason was because they were from the rock generation so this culture made no sense to them.
Has pushed the UK scene way back. Thunderdome looks to now be about 20 years ahead of even Creamfields.
