Some medication can definitely alter perception of sound (even prescribed). Have you looked into that?

You are not, there are various tracks I hear it, and like you all through that piano intro. I usually get it in the car. And it annoys me because I think for a brief second that one of the speakers has popped.
But it's a case of "what can you do about it"? "\_(ツ)_/"
Either don't listen to those tracks or EQ the high end out. Maybe a low pass filter will help get rid of some of it.

I think my only option is to stop listening to those tracks. Although I still wish it wasn?t a thing. It is only present in modern tracks. It?s frustrating when 1 version of the track has it and another version doesn?t. (Have It All (Al Storm Remix) and I hope that people might think carefully about the mastering process in the future, but I suspect they won?t.

I've been there. I was obsessed with Substanced - Juggernaut from Who's Got The Stamina?, but I ended up not playing it very often because of the sound quality. After a while I couldn't stand the crushed sound and the obvious clipping.
