Hey guys, this is an effect I've been wanting to learn how to do.

It's the kind of trancy fizzy sweep down sound used by alot of producers. Styles in this case.

here's some examples:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N0K5Z-HiCzg - (used straight away in intro)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zAwh1h4iD3s - (clearest use at 00:48)

my best guess is it's a regular sweep down with some panning and some sort of gating added.
however after trying that I feel there may be something else going on.

If anyone's made something like this before I'd appreciate some insight

There's plenty of sweeps in packs that sound like this already. I just add a little bit of reverb.

I'm hearing filtered noise , being swept with a high resonance.

Gated or an arp (Sylenth would be a good choice)

chorus maybe.

Panning on an lfo.

Probably loads of these in various FX packs, but to make it from scratch i'd be playing around with noise ocsillators and sweeping filters around with high resonances.

Not that complicated mate - hit splice.com and search 'downlifter'. You'll find loads. It's great if you can design these sounds but if you're just looking to put together a track there's nowt wrong with using samples (as D&S have done many many times on their own tracks)
