As long as you can keep the quality level from previous djs why not :)

What you need:
Rules
Last tune from previous part
Soundcloud Example
How to post [good example from DJ D-Luc-D]

I don't like to add new rules so I updated rule 6.

I just think that it needs to be controlled. If the tempo is constantly going up and down I think the mix will lose flow and integrity. If the tempo is going to be upped then it needs to be for a few mixes at least, not just one. Also, the next DJ needs to find a smooth way of reducing the tempo again. Playing slower tracks at stupid speeds simply sounds daft.

[HHC.COM Challenge] MAYBEH Hardcore History 20 - truepain

Hey guys, just a heads up -this is literally my first mix ever. I've been trying to make a mix for the longest time, but always felt it was lacking. I still have no idea what I'm doing. I just try and blend the songs together but ... I think my headphones lie to me. I saw this thread on the main page though, and this challenge has motivated me! Hearing all the different genres and mixes really inspired me to work harder and push myself ... to a level .. BEYOND! (refer to DBZ episode 245). EHHHH.

I'm submitting this hoping you guys can use it for HARDCORE HISTORY! If you can't use it I understand. I'm happy regardless! feedback/tips/anything is appreciated really.

Tracklist

120 - DJ PunCh - ButtaMilkBizkit
121 - Sy, Technikore - Turn Me Out (Original Mix)
122 - Dougal and Grammer - Don't Stop
123 - Joey Riot, Seduction - Thousands Of Ravers (Original Mix)
124 - Riot, Haywire - STOMP & Shout (Original Mix)
125 - Sara, S3rl - Want It Harder (Tom Revolution vs Joey Riot Remix)
126 - Petruccio - Activate (Original Mix)
127 - Technikore - Hardcore Slut

track ends at 170bpm. A minor

I doubt that this is your first mix since it's really well done. :)

My feedback:

1) File name & format is wrong

2) transistion between:
124 - Riot, Haywire - STOMP & Shout (Original Mix)
125 - Sara, S3rl - Want It Harder (Tom Revolution vs Joey Riot Remix)

there is clearly a 1-2dB difference

3) same goes for the first transition

4) You forgot to add link to this thread on soundcloud

------------------------------------------------------------

Even though that this is my personal taste you could use different genres (there is more than UKH).

Btw, you made that mix-part with software? transition between 122 and 123 clearly sounds too smooth.

Anyway, I will add this mix part now, first post updated!

try speakers? ^^ If it's a studio mix you can retry transitions as much as you like and combine them afterwards.

I have to disagree about "forcing" people to adopt previous DJs speed throughout their mix.

Example: If D-Luc-D, myself and Hellblinde mix on 200BPM would you like to create a part with the same speed?

I actually like the varity atm. but there really is a huge difference in speed lately:

[1] slow: <170-179 BPM
[2] normal:180-195 BPM
[3] fast:196-219 BPM
[4] extreme:>220 BPM

[00:00:00-00:15:14] DJ Hellfury - normal
[00:15:14-00:29:00] djDMS - normal

I see your point but I feel like you just completely misquoted me? I didn't say anything about "forcing" anyone to play at a certain speed. I actually think the emphasis is on the next DJ to have a smooth progression from the previous mix into theirs. This means not playing 170bpm tunes at 300bpm.

I think it would make sense for each DJ to have the next one in mind when making their mix. For example, my second mix went down to 150bpm but I worked it back up to 180bpm for the ending.

I just think it's about maintaining a sense of fluency and continuity throughout the mix as a whole so that it doesn't sound patchy and irregular.

P.S. Have my mixing levels been ok?

I didnt meant that you said "forcing people to keep BPM from previous part" but

quote:
If the tempo is going to be upped then it needs to be for a few mixes at least

the logical consequence out of this would be another rule telling contributors to keep previous BPM rate, and I actually don't like the idea.

I updated Rule 6 yesterday and placed a little advice up there so DJs have to think about the next contributor.

It's not possible, each DJ has his own taste but it would be great if DJs follow my advice at Rule 6 and use a proper track at the end, with normal BPM.

Why making a question about your skills? I don't see any reason why anyone should doubt them (well, except gammer maybe) :P

Only thing DJs (almost) constantly do wrong is keeping volume at one level... but I guess that will not change.
