Special K's musical roots go back to the late 80's, when his love of music led him to Miami's underground club scene. The club scene fed his passion for music pushing him to create as well as listen. By the beginning of the 90's K joined the band Koniption Fit performing in the south Florida landmarks Churchill's and the Plus 5 Lounge. Soon the stage would give way to the DJ booth and the electronic music scene of the early 90's. As a resident at The Edge he became a mainstay on the South Florida techno and industrial scene. During the rest of the 90's he bounced between NYC and Miami performing at various clubs and maintaining a residency at the Boiler Room.
During an extended break from the decks Special K began producing music again as well as running his own pirate radio station. On the pirated airwaves K started experimenting with jump up and jungle. Before long drum'n'bass became the main focus of all of his endeavors leading him back to the DJ booth and the Miami clubs. K spent the next few years establishing himself as one of the top dj's on the South Florida D'n'B scene.
In 2003 Special K teamed up with Miami drum'n'bass pioneer MC Motive to form Assembly Station. A DJ driven performance act, Assembly Station is not simply a MC and DJ, it is a sound studio brought to life on stage. Eventually the duo became a trio with the addition of South Florida jungle queen; Miss K.
