i think silver can hook up a custom avatar if you host it somewhere and send him the link and whatnot. i think pathfinder's avatar is custom madeand linked up like that (if there isn't already a spot to include a link to ur avatar)

Milo had it pretty much spot-on with his reply above.
One thing I'd add though is that the small avatar size is a pretty restrictive with regards to avatars - I was gonna see about getting a custom one before but the moment I scaled it down to the right size you couldn't even see what the hell it was supposed to be.
(Note: not that I'm saying that small avatars are a bad thing. They aren't. It's just a limitation where you want to use an image that isn't suitable for that size.)
It had to be done.
