Da Predator - Holland

Amsterdam based DJ Predator, a.k.a. Stephan Scheltema, had to deal with a rebellious, creative mind all his life. Lost in graffiti art during his childhood, he became intrigued by early Rap music, Breakbeats, Reggae and Electro. Over a period of six years, he managed to release more than sixty releases, most of them on labels such as Mokum, Ruffneck, Ruff EX, Cenobite and H2Oh. With the growth of the dance scene in general, Predator?s star was rising, providing him with more equipment and possibilities. Living his dream of expressing his musical thoughts on recordings, his enthusiasm earned him the status of label manager for one of Holland?s best selling labels, at the time owned by the reknowned record company XSV Music in Rotterdam. All his time and money he spent in and on his studio. Hit releases like Jiehaaaa, Pump Up The Vibe and Mind Of A Lunatic brought him recognition from around the globe, resulting in live performances and DJ bookings in worldwide, from Canada to Australia, from Russia to the United States, Germany, Holland, Swiss, the UK and more.

Evil Activities - Holland

Endymion - Holland

At the moment Endymion is one of the most popular hardcore artists in Holland. They were founded in 1997 in Wateringen (NL). Their first record was released on Supreme Intelligence in 1998. After many successful releases on Supreme Intelligence (Mind and body as one, We are the future, Demonsworld) more records followed on labels like Gangsta Audiovisuals, Bionic Recordings, D-Boy records, The Third Movement, Babyboom and Neophyte records.

Their DJ-sets can be described as hard, uplifting and energetic. They enjoy the music as much as the crowd! In june 2005 they will rock Australia for the second time. Make sure you are ready!

Be prepared for the unexpected....

BIOFORGE

Slowly but surely maturing his natural love for Hiphop and Breaks, these musical styles started to sneak into his productions. Although still using a steady beat, he more and more found himself applying sophisticated drum patterns to his tracks, giving them more funk and more speed. In 1998, longing for a new creative challenge, BioForge decided to have a major career change. From that moment on he wanted to present his dark, claustrophobic atmospheres to the Drum ?n Bass scene. The shift immediately proved to be a success. As Dutch imprints A New Dawn and Acetate Recordings were securing BioForg?s singles, UK labels such as 5HQ / Formation were quickly snatching up pairs of their own. In 2001, he joined one of the most prestigeous Dutch crews named Bassground and was voted best Dutch Drum ?n Bass producer in 2002.

FIRST ARIZONA APPEARANCE WE BRING U

PHOTEK- Metalheadz/Photek Productions/LA-UK
Rupert Parkes, aka Photek, Special Forces, Studio Pressure and Aquarius, first became hooked on music at the birth of hip hop in the mid '80's with the first electro and rap tunes. This naturally evolved into an interest in jazz and inspired by John Coltrane he learned to play the saxophone.
In 1989 pirate radio turned him onto the warehouse parties and underground clubs of the UK rave scene. Parkes first rave experience was at east Londons Telepathy in Marsh Gate lane where he saw Fabio and Jumpin' Jack Frost for the first time playing music that blew him away. A move to Ipswich marked the beginning of his music making in '92. Parkes began working at a record shop owned by Rob Solomon with whom he also began to record his first tracks. An early result was the 1992 jazz-inflicted hardcore track Sensation, recorded as Origination, which was picked up by Ray Keith, a friend of Solomon¹s, who was involved with Soho¹s Black Market Records and was influential in the rave scene at the time. The following year Parkes and Solomon released "Make You Do Right / Out Of This World" under the same name. As Studio Pressure Parkes recorded "Jump" for Certificate 18 Records as his first solo release.

A landmark moment came when Parkes found a new family in the form of Goldie and Metalheadz, His first Metalheadz release was "Consciousness", "Into The '90's" and "The Rain". After the Metalheadz releases Parkes felt it was time to start his own label and imprint, in 1994 Photek Records was launched with a loan from the Prince of Wales Youth Business Trust. A series of legendary releases like "The Watermargin" and "Rings around Saturn" were soon to follow. By this point Parkes was established as one of the leading pioneers of the scene that was
soon to be christened "Drum and Bass". The evolution of the scene saw different camps emerging creating a wide array of styles with Parkes making some notable contributions. As Aquarius, Parkes recorded a number of tracks for LTJ Bukem's Good Looking Records, including "Drift To The Centre /Waveforms" on Good Looking, 1995 and "Dolphin Tune / Aquatic" in 1996. It was around this time that Photek met long time friend and ally Peshay who had just released
the incredible "Protoge EP" on Reinforced.

Photek was now an established artist and proceeded to land a publishing deal with Universal. The next few years saw him remix artists such as Attica Blues, Goldie, Roni Size, Therapy, Dr. Octagon and later Bjork, David Bowie, Everything But The Girl, Zero 7; at the same time the major labels became interested and in 1996 Photek signed to Virgin Records¹ subsidiary Science Records for a 5 album deal (his work is released by Astralwerks in America).

Parkes¹ first release on Science was "The Hidden Camera" Ep in 1996 followed by "Ni-Ten-Ichi-Rye" and "Modus Operandi" in 1998. In the same year the latin future jazz "Yendi" accompanied the release of the album¹s title track as a single. As he was emerging, Parkes¹ subtle style led the media inadequately to proclaim him as the leader of a new Ointelligent¹ drum ¹n¹ bass sound, after the raw energy of early jungle. By the time his work on Science had matured, his approach into a unique personalized style quite unlike anything else around. Despite its variety and diverse influences, "Modus Operandi" is coherent throughout; as with his thrifty instrumentation, the attention is mostly focused on Parkes¹ incredibly detailed drum programming. Many tracks such as "The Hidden Camera" and "KJZ" have a jazz feel, employing cyclic double bass and impressionistic chordal effects while the taut drum sounds fidget underneath. At the same time other tracks such as "Aleph 1" and "Minotaur" illustrate the techno influence in their choice of sounds, while "Smoke Rings" and "The Fifth Column" are virtually all drums accompanied by textured soundscapes. Parkes' debut album was an in depth body of work that gave Parkes a place way beyond dance music. The following year¹s Form & Function collected together early
Singles and various remixes alongside two new tracks. With his economical, static approach and a high level of abstraction, Parkes has summed up the direction of, arguably, the most creative dance music of the ¹90s in the most eloquent form. His high production quality and brilliant drum sound and patters gave him the name O Master of beats¹ a true legend.

When Parkes started working on his next album, "Solaris", he looked back at the music that had inspired him when he first started making music. The "Terminus" Ep was released followed by the single "Mine to Give" a collaboration with House legend Robert Owens. "Mine To Give" became a
Number 1 dance hit in the US and a club anthem around the world. It came as no surprise when people in the film and TV industry wanted to collaborate with Parkes and a temporarily move to Los Angeles was inevitable. Parkes scored the martial arts film "Invincible", scored the
hip hop tv series "Platinum", scored several chase scenes in "The Italian Job", scored music for the "Animatrix" etc. During his time in LA, Parkes also remixed the theme tune for the HBO
hit " Six Feet Under" and the theme from the Mel Gibson movie "Signs".

After a long battle and after paying a high price, Parkes managed to get out of his record deal with Virgin to regain complete creative freedom. Besides the film and TV work Parkes has decided to give priority to his own label again which has recently released several singles under his alias Special Forces and signed 2 new artists (see link Photek records). This summer Parkes started a new urban label ; 51st State Entertainment on which he produces new talent (see link 51st State). Between London, LA and many dj tours, Parkes has built an infrastructure which enables him to work in the various fields he enjoys the most; scoring movies, producing other acts or making drum 'n' bass. Parkes' priority is to be creative and flexible being the visionary that he is.

TECHNO/TRANCE/HOUSE

DDR(LIVE)- Hazchem, Coshh, Smitten, Stay Up Forever-UK
A twelve year veteran of the London underground dance scene, DDR has unleashed his own brand of techno / trance on many labels and at many parties / raves / clubs / festivals around the globe.
A central player on the U.K. free party sound system scene, DDR could be found running rig's at parties and festivals by Full-On and Bedlam in the early nineties. Following on from this it was not long before he was bringing his fledgling studio out to these events to play music to the masses directly from the machines.
A meeting of minds between DDR and the then newly formed Liberator DJ trio led to a first vinyl release for DDR on Stay Up Forever no. 2. A pioneer of what was to become the London Acid Techno sound, DDR was the first guest producer to appear on Stay Up Forever and he has had a hand in many of their most memorable releases and is still one of their most prolific artists.
Through working with the Liberator DJ's as their studio engineer, DDR met with DJ Choci of Choci's Chewns and was soon roped in to run Choci's studio for him. A fruitfull eighteen months passed at the Chocolate factory seeing Choci and DDR rattle off a great many acid-trance stormers and numerous proto-hardhouse/nrg classics. Moving on from Choci's studio to start his own labels with current partner in crime Mark Kinetec of the Kinetec empire, DDR was seen getting his hands dirty designing and constructing a fully equiped, state of the art studio for Kinetec Records ( all those years of college and 'real' jobs paid off.....), of which he is still the manager. The labels Hazchem and COSHH were born from this effort and were the prototype labels for the Infectious Distribution offspring from Kinetec Records.
During this time DDR had continued to produce records for a slew of newer labels such as Smitten, Cluster, Routemaster, Input, etc and also hone his skills as a live performer travelling to many places around the globe with his flight case full of equipment to entertain the hordes.
More recently DDR has been involved in the construction of the vinyl mastering facility for Kinetec Mastering, continues to produce for all of his favourite labels and has married and spends much of his time in the States where he can be caught bringing the sound of the London techno underground to an event near you.

THE DARK SIDE HITS SYDNEY SYDNEY ENTERTAINMENT CENTER

The team behind the Godspeed events have planned and prepared for what can only be described as one of the pivotal moments in the Sydney dance scene. That is, the confirmation of Godspeed being held in one of Australia’ longest running, and most highly acclaimed venues, the Sydney Entertainment Centre. Without question you would have heard of this giant complex, and more than likely you would have attended SOMETHING at this venue.

But you have NEVER partied all night here, until now. That’s right, Powerhouse Productions have done it again. We have confirmed for the first time EVER, the use of a key Sydney institution for one of our events. We have been doing it for years, from the first use of the massive Australia’s Wonderland, to the first use of the awesome Sydney Superdome and Sydney Showground.

We are the leaders, and this venue is possibly our most anticipated entertainment arenas. The main party area, where our monster production is being installed can comfortably accommodate a sea of Dark Side travellers, one of the largest main arenas we have ever utilised for Godspeed. While our second and third arenas and chillout arena can fit another couple of thousand people with High ceilings and views out to Chinatown.

The main arena has a ceiling height that will allow for the use of dramatic lighting and laser installations, moving mirror effects combined with giant staging, decorations and props. The Sydney Entertainment Centre is about to cross over to the Dark Side, are you with us on the journey?

PRODUCTION

A few times a year you will count every day, you will awake with the anticipation that you are just one day closer. You will speak to others and you will share with them your excitement. They will see in your eyes that you are focusing on something that is so outstanding, so mesmerising that they too will be drawn into this mystical buzz.

These few times a year are when you await an event of such scale and magnitude that very few words can describe the sensation of anticipation. These events, more often that not, are Powerhouse events, and they are especially exciting because you know, in your heart and in your mind, that on finally getting to that day, transporting yourself to the giant venue, entering the main arena, that on finally arriving inside this behemoth you will be awaited by quite possible the largest and most advanced production set up you have ever witnessed.

You know that the lasers will sweep you up and take you further than the music alone could, you will know that the pounding of the bass bins will shoot through the floor and up your whole body, driving manically through your spine and into every part of you. You know that seeing yourself jumping and pumping on the giant video screens will send not only you but all around you into a childlike buzz. This is what you have you waited for, and it has been worth the wait.

A conglomeration of the most highly advanced party technology, lasers so powerful they require rivers of water to keep them cool, lights so advanced they move in unison like a miniature army. Video screens so large they make the Hollywood boys envious. A Powerhouse event is a powerful event, you know it, and you wait in great anticipation.

For Godspeed Dark Side we can only allure to the fact this event will be not only worth the wait, it will be a historic experience. Join us as we take you and your fellow travellers deep within the Dark Side.
