Sounds like they are having trouble handling the pressure

I'm not so sure it would be a great marketing ploy. Surely releasing before xmas so people can get it as a present OR buy it after with their xmas cash would be better marketing?

If it had to be delayed anyway, it's much better to still release in December than, say, January... But it's still bad marketing.

I don't think it makes much difference. People don't only buy a CD the day of release, they buy it whenever they care to or whenever they see it and want to buy it. Only the geeks who have been anticipating it's release will be buying it on the day, which probably isn't many people. I'm still buying stuff many years after it was released.

Its a 4CD Album, so I might be tempted to buy it.

I'd have to disagree on the whole release date doesn't matter thing! It's extremely important and a large majority of people get a release in its first month of being available. If it doesn't sell well in the early period it wont get/stay in certain shops and it will fail on a large scale. Think how many extra sales having an album on the shelf in places like Asda brings in! You want to be holding onto that as long as possible.

Do you know who is mixing all the disks? Not really seen any info on it yet.
