I was looking by some pages and found a dj resource page that said making set is like telling a story. So, I was wondering do you make stories when spin a set by your records' titles?

Like, I own...

DJ Kawasaki - Maria
DJ Stompy - Come Follow Me
Raver's Choice - Techno Wonderland

So, spinning a set would make.. Maria, come follow me to the tehno wonderland.

Sorry about the odd post.. was bored at work :)

depends on what i'm in the mood to play, but usually my stories go from bouncier techno to evil angry music =P

stories is a wierd way of expressing it, but yeah it's defiantly not just random - beatmatching and techncially good mxiing are only half the game. Lifting the crowd up, taking the crowd down, and just knowing what's a natrual progression is all part of being a dj.. I'm working on it, but I'm not at the 'go to a party with no idea what I'm going to play' thing and just make it up as aI go :S

last time i spun a set i wove a story of political intrigue, military might and the power of the human spirit, with a dash of romance and a fairytale ending. i've since sold the movie rights and i'm also working on a tv mini-series based on the tale.

what i play depends on my mood really, and it shows in the tracks i pick. :)
i'm big on lyrics, so often i choose tracks to "tell a story"/keep a theme going based on their lyrical content. hope that made sense! :)
