Hi there!

I have just discovered this page today and i like it pretty much. Yesterday i bought a midi keyboard, and today or in the next 2 days ill buy FLStudio XXL Edition [the one with sytrus, drumsynth LIVE! etc..].

I have been looking around on the net and i have been trying to find out what music i should make. [Notice: I have some experience in using FL but i just havent got a keyboard till now. I can also play whatever i hear immidiatly afterwards, and create new tunes heh. Its not easy, i know, but im wandering around with some ideas..]

But well i have been looking at the music industry and it seems like there is too much rock music, and of ordinary techno too. I really like techno in general, and hardcore is one of my favorite styles.

So i am wondering, if i need a more advanced melody, and if im going to play it on keyboard, how would i do that? In no way anyone can play sooo fast like 180 bpm [afaik hardcore generally starts at 160 bpm right?], of course underlying pads and such stuff can be played.. So would i create the song THEN adjust the speed, or would i put that damn fast speed and just try to create the melody by hand? What are your choise?

record whatever tune you want at a lower bpm, something around 100 or 120, then you can speed it up later, you just have to be careful with changing pitches and stuff when you speed it up... if your starting around 100-140 it shouldnt be too bad, just remember everything will sound a lot faster so your better off to keep backups, so when you listen to it after youve made your track then you can decide what sounds good and what needs changing.

its a lot of trial and error. a lot.

p.s. you dont need a midi keyboard for fl do you? ive been using it for a while now without a keyboard :S

Hi!

Yup it starts at 140.
Well you dont exactly need a keyboard but it will help you when making more advanced stuff. And if you can play it, it will surely help you..

Thanks for the good advice

It really depends on the type of melody you want.

Some times you can write a melody at 140bpm and it sounds stupid at hardcore speeds.

I work at 175bpm generally. I guess you just have to find what you're good at
