One of my favourite Happy Hardcore years, even though Hardcore was steadily on the decline.

Awful year for Hardcore, utter shit cheese releases from all labels. Glad I bailed in 1997/8 NYE even though I kept listening to the music and bought tape packs. WHen they got so unlistenable I stopped completely.

the EP came out in 93, the white label, and remixes are from 92, or some of them are, probably find them on universe tapes

That's your opinion. Loads of tracks I liked in 1998. The scene was slipping, though.

Interesting, cos it says the remixes are '93 on Discogs

I really like the remixes on that release.

No, its not my opinion, its cold hard fact, I witnessed first hand the death of the hardcore scene as it was, and everyone said the same thing, cheese. it ruined HHC. It was seriously sad to go to a Dreamscape and see the queue only a few people deep just before they opened the gates, where as you'd be queuing for ages to get in at the Sanctuary. THings were dying so quickly, it was heart breaking. But when you were in the main arenas, F&S were doing their relentless vocal tirade and the start of the whole fast trance bollocks. It drove loads out. Me included.

They must have started losing money hand over fist from that point on, trying to flog a dead horse.

I'm not disagreeing that Hardcore was on the slide, I interpreted your statement about it being a 'awful year for Hardcore' as in the music being produced was shit, which is your opinion. I loved 1998 for the music, you didn't. Opinions lad. We'll agree to disagree on that one.

As for the events. Helter Skelter was still pretty packed, as was Dreamscape. A lot of the smaller events weren't operating anymore, so it was really just the main ones, Helter Skelter, Dreamscape & Hardcore Heaven. Then came 1999 and less and less stuff was being made. For sure the scene was smaller..

Oh, Hysteria was another event, although, a smaller one and for over 16s.

Which then leads me on to mention what a good job Scott Brown did through 1999 with the new Evolution sound that kept the scene going into the 2000s.
